I am Mason Quellhorst, and I am the new 8thgrade Social Studies teacher at Westby Middle School. Growing up through my educational journey, I enrolled here in the Westby Area School District before continuing my education at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. I graduated from the University in May, with an Elementary-Middle Education degree (EME) with an emphasis in Social Studies. My previous experiences in the classroom were teaching and assisting at Northside Elementary (4th grade) and Longfellow Middle (8th grade) in La Crosse. After these placements, I was most recently student teaching at Prairie View Elementary School (5thgrade) in De Soto and I was also the JV baseball coach for the 2023 season. Interests and hobbies I enjoy outside of teaching are camping, fishing, boating, hunting, spending time with friends and family, and watching sports. I am an avid sport fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Milwaukee Bucks. Sports are a large part of my life and I try to attend as many games as possible! I also hope to continue coaching while teaching, as I was an assistant for the Westby/Coon Valley Jr. Legion baseball team this summer. I can’t wait to begin my teaching career here at Westby, and for the school year to start!
