Hey guys! So some of you may wonder why we, as a school, collect pop tabs and what in the world the Ronald McDonald House is? I wondered the same thing not too long ago.. I’m Kaila and I’ll share why such a tiny little pop tab has such a large impact!
Some of you may know me, I use to work in the Middle School but now am a stay at home mom…To twin boys! They were our reason and our connection to the Ronald McDonald house. Because of my pregnancy being a twin pregnancy, along with some other minor risks, we decided to go to the doctors in Madison. Well, when I delivered the boys early, they needed to stay in the NICU. We simply couldn’t make it to Madison every single day to see them while they stayed at the hospital to get bigger and work on their feeding. So thankfully, we were given a room and stay in the Ronald McDonald House in Madison for the 23 days we needed. The Ronald McDonald House provides FREE stays, meals, snacks, bathroom items, laundry services, game room, events… everything you could ever need. They do this for any family that may have kids that need to stay in a hospital or near a hospital for extended periods of time. Their little saying is that they are “keeping families close” and they really did that for us. It truly was a silver lining to our situation.
As for your pop tabs- that part of a can has the highest aluminum content so they get a created money return by recycling those! It’s such a small thing that has a HUGE impact. So please, think before you throw. We hope that families don’t need to stay there, but we are so glad for the Ronald McDonald House in Madison and that there are great people and places that help sustain their mission. You never know what life will throw at you or how great of an impact your small actions have on other people. Thank you!
